A mysterious daytime event was observed at 22:45:24 30/Jan/2008 (UT) from Tokyo.
http://sonotaco.jp/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1665
It has possibility of the first observation of conjugate sprite.
(no lightning was observed in Japan then)
Could someone tell us your opinions? Are there any other posibilities?
Could someone get the lightning information of all the world at that time?

From what I see in the image, it looks like reflections of sunlight in a water droplet or melting snow falling from the camera housing or something higher. The dark path at the bottom of the frame suggests this. Else it would be strange how a sprite could become so bright as to be visible during the day.

Oh yes!, there is something dark on the last field.
I thought it could not be substantial things, because it changed its shape and disappeared at last frame.
But it is possible if it was reflections and went into shadow of housing.
It might be a considerable explanation.
Today, I got lightning logs of Australia and New Zealand.
Relko of Astrogenic Systems has kindly sent to me.
I will check it from now on.

I checked , and there was no record around one hour of the event.
Oh, ...... droppings of birds |

Hi, I'm a little late at finding this topic, I don't know if you ever found an explanation or not but on the Spaceweather site I visit there is a guy who is an expert at identifying strange images of the sky. His site is here: http://www.atoptics.co.uk/ You may or may not know of him. I don't know if it will help or not. |

Hi Brian
Thank you for info.
This event was discussed in Japanese topic below.

There, similar clip was captured again, and it was determined as snow dropping from a roof.
It was interesting as an experience . |
