I've been working on a system to Track sprites using Astrogenic's Nexstorm, UFOCapture and some software I've been trying to develop while learning Visual basic 2010.

I thought I'd post the vb project file here so others that are interested could also play around with it. first let me say.. I'm not a programmer or coder or whatever. Laughing

I started this project as a way to learn visual basic and try something I've had in mind for a while.
the program was written with these assumptions in mind....
The pan tilt head beig used is controlled using the Pelco-p command set and the com port it gets it's serial data from is on Com1

Here's what the software does... or at least attempts to do.
When loaded the program moves the camera to a home position (mine is set to north) so all calculations are based on the camera being pointed north as the "home" location

The program reads in the TRACReport.txt file from a website (mine gets uploaded) so It defaults to my server and TRAC file location. (this url can be changed to your url)

The program them parses the TRAC report and attempts to find the storm with the highest +CG. It then parses out the bearing to the storm and moves the camera to that compass degree. the software then waits a specific amount of time before re reading the track report and then parses the data and re slews the camera head to whatever storm it thinks is the best +CG candidate.

Omce again I'm not a programmer. I'm learning from this project. I'm just putting this out there for anyone who might like to look it over and improve or try it out!

here's a link to the zip file

Hi Kevin
Sounds great. Thank you for posting.
Once I've heard similar attempt on Kouchi Kouka univ in Japan. I don't know the details but may be they will be interested in your work.
