Hi SonotaCo,
Thanks for all the updates! Everything is working well for me. I am now using a Canopus ADVC-55 DV PAL video capture device, as the Nvidia GeForce 6600gt VIVO was far too unstable and had some interference visible in the captured video. You can see from the website www.meteorlogni.com that I have been using v2 for a couple of weeks now. The brightest is mag -2.5!
I do not have many bugs to report but I have a few suggestions. I am using the Peak BMP because the Peak JPG compression is too high for me. I then convert to JPG myself. Unfortunately this means that I cannot use the FTP functionality. Would it be possible to produce both a P BMP and a P JPG just for the web?
Otherwise, would it be possible to decrease the compression on the P JPG so that the quality is better?
Just one more thing, I think you spelt 'scintillation' wrong!
Once again, thanks for supporting us PAL users!
All the best, Robert.

Thank you, I am very glad to hear that.

IEEE1394,PAL720x576 may be very heavy. When cpu load exceeds 90% everything include hangups might happen. Please watch your cpu load. but I could not recognize the interference in your clips.

This is one of what I was not confident. .... ok ......

Hi SonotaCo,

seems ok to me I have a Pentium IV 3Ghz

Below is a P BMP when using the nvidia 6600gt VIVO (when it worked ). The quality is very good but there is interference. When watching the video the interference is diagonal, but in the P BMP it is horizontal !? Also the data rate is 20MB/s which is too high for my harddisk which is 7200rpm 400gb. The DV PAL is only 15MB/s.

Hi Robert
Thank you for visual explanation.
Now I understand.
> Also the data rate is 20MB/s which is too high for my harddisk which is 7200rpm 400gb.
> The DV PAL is only 15MB/s.
Yes. DV uses Y:U:V 4:1:1 but UFOCapture uses 4:2:2 format internally.
720x576x(8+4+4bit)x25 = 20MB/s
This could be reduce to 15MB/s if dedicated detection logic is used.
But I am not planning this.
I remember one thing.
In case of using 16bit color mode of display, jpeg quality obtained by microsoft's module becomes very poor.
It because the modules may use device dependent bit map. I did not overcome this point.
So please use 24 or 32 bit color mode in desktop.

Hi :
Sky recently was no good but UFOcapture prove to be able to catch one or two meteors. On the masking with blue color - at first I thought I can use this to inferred the starting direction but realised I can't since this is just thresholding. It will be good if the first starting frame can be color coded differently so that at a glance I can tell the direction and whether i have intersecting meteors in browsing the still shorts....or coming from a known radiant well ( guesstimate only) . Of coure the real test is the UFOanalyser... but
Just tried V2 compatible version 0.64 . Register bat file works but when i execute the UFOanlayser program it says it cannot read the rule text file. The text file is there but i do not know why the exe did not recognise / read it.
Pls let me know - dedicated some time today for evaluating..
Thanks and Have a nice day.

Hi Robert:
I see you are doing very well with UFOCapture... I just seen your mail. Sorry for late response.
USB steas less resources than my firewire.... if system stabilise then I will get a more recent pc and faster harddisk ( singapore is a harddisk valley here) - those sataII 15Krpm drives.
Do drop me a private email ; mine is chiayk1@singnet.com.sg so we can establish a direct contact...
Clear sky to u. Mine does not look good today... ISS high pass over tonite..

Hi ykchia
>when i execute the UFOanlayser program it says it cannot read the rule text file. The text file is there but i do not know why the exe did not recognise / read it.
This is the first case I have heard.
I now tested on English version of Windows, but I could reconfirm this.
There is possibility that working directory is not equal to its installed directory in case of using shortcut.
I made a special version which shows the name and directory of the file.
Please test this version and tell me what happens.
thanks.

Blue color shows long term bright objects. There is very big image processing behind it.
I think you can get many correct position of starts when the sky is clear.

Thank you for a comment. This is good idea, but I think this is not suitable for realtime job. CPU power is limited especially at the beginning of record it is very critical.

This is memo for all
Above problem was resolved.
The cause was the extractor of lzh which cannot handle long file name.
Please confirm the contents of directory when you expand UFOA*.lzh package.
The true contents are below.
