I am not sure.....
I have not tested nor reported about Basler cameras nor GigE cameras.
It may be NOT because it seems they require some special setting tools.

The specs do not look remarkable with 640x480, B/W, but 100 fps and progressive scan is good. And I read the Sony ICX618 (1/4")is one of the most sensitive sensors available now. Does it show up normally as device in UFOCapture? Please post a sample image Smile

I checked out Basler and I would prefer their 1.2 megapixel color version. It uses the Sony ICX445, which is 1/3". Basler gives the list prices:
http://www.baslerweb.com/newsletter/beitrag_en_105693.html
Funny (not) that EdmundOptics presents them at almost double the list price.

Even better, I learned of Point Grey cameras, especially this one:
http://www.ptgrey.com/products/chameleon/chameleon_usb_camera.asp
it basically is a ICX445 in a small housing, data and power over USB 2.0. Its datasheet says the IR block filter can be unmounted easily. USB only cuts the imaging speed down a little. Exposure time can be greater than 10 seconds, good for some purposes. It also has CS-mount instead of C-mount only for the Basler. This permits the use of more lenses, including my Computar 12mm f/0.8. Although, it does not have an auto-iris output.
I would certainly like to know if this could work with UFOCapture. The output data formats are: Y8, Y16 (monochrome), 8-bit and 16-bit raw Bayer data (color models)
They also have a firewire model with the same sensor.

Oscar

Hi Oscar,

As soon as you send a sample image of a sprite maybe;-)

I also tried the Chameleon usb2 mono, the software does not work firecapture over 16 fps.

Bye

I received info about the Chameleon, unfortunately it seems not a good choice for working with most DirectShow applications. The images are R, G, B separately, not debayered as one image.

I still have only a Watec, my sample images are on my website Smile
