I have replaced my laptop from 2011 by a current model (Dell XPS 15 9550).
I am not familiar with having two graphics cards, so maybe my problem is related to it. The NVIDIA info shows UFOCaptureHD is not using it, anyway (seems only 3D applications can? Or can I disable Intel HD 530 device to force using it?)

When I start the capture, a video frame shows and then this part of the screen goes black or stays displaying this frame without time stamp. It does detect and save videos correctly.
Only when I let the laptop turn off the screen temporarily and then touch the mouse to turn it on, the video stream and time stamp shows properly. Has anyone experienced this before and solved it?
Note it runs fine with my internal webcam, but not my b/w USB 3 camera.

Is it also new ?
Sounds the camera or capture device causes the problem.

No, the camera is the same as I used before without problems on the previous system. But on this system the stream displaying is a problem, while UFOCaptureHD does detect something and captures good video. Maybe I should try with my older version of the program which I ran on my previous laptop?

Oh, something got solved by itself! I was messing in camera settings, switched to RAW format, it crashed UFOHD, I switched back to Mono8, ran UFOHD and it displayed the stream. I have no clue how! Hope this does not come back to haunt me during observing nights Twisted Evil

The problem returns after reboot/return from sleep. I found a method which seems to work consistently:

- Plug the camera in a USB 3.0 port.
- Open FlyCap2 to stream video.
- Run UFOHD and try to preview the stream (it will only say: Activating)
- Quit UFOHD and FlyCap2
- Start UFOHD again, preview the stream now works fine.

Without software from the manufacturer trying to stream simultaneously with UFOHD for a moment (it produces a streaming error in that software), the stream would remain black in UFOHD. I am not sure how it works, probably a Microsoft usbxhci driver quirk, but I can now use the camera normally again Wink

Just to report that my issue has finally gone after I installed version 4.24 of UFOCaptureHD2 and version 2.11.3.121 of FlyCapture (from Point Grey, now FLIR) this weekend! Makes observing a whole lot more enjoyable.

No!! It was temporary luck again.
I also got GraphStudioNext tool to check the video stream. It displays video right away when connecting Point Grey camera source to a Video Mixing Renderer.
It loads with the default media subtype, which turns out to be RGB32, and displays the stream.

However, if I actively choose a subtype, even RGB32, it gives an error, and subsequently I do not get a list of types again, and also gives an error choosing the default. Maybe this is related to what happens in UFOCaptureHD2?
