Hello we have problems when we connect four cameras in a single computer, the cameras are watec 902h and the pc: PCs are Intel (R) core (TM) 2 duo CPU, 2.8 GHz, 3.00 GB RAM, the cameras are watec 902H, are connected to the pc are a coax cable that goes to an ADVC-55 converter (Canopus) and from this a connection to PCI.
It does not work well for four or three cameras, the program gives many errors, my question is that pc is recommended in terms of performance, capacity, cards, etc.
a greeting

Hi
General requirements and limitation for multiple cameras on one PC is below.
CPU
-- same or more number of processing core or HT (over 2GHz) as the number of cameras
Windows limitation
-- maximum number of video steam is 4.
(5 or more capture device will cause incomprehensible troubles.)
Capture device limitation
-- Different manufacture's capture device (that uses another device driver) usually works simultaneously well.
-- IEEE1394 capture devices up to 4 that uses Windows built in driver can be used simultaneously.
-- one IEEE1394 interface chip is almost full for only one SD bandwidth. So multiple hardware of IEEE1394 interfaces should be used for multiple cameras.
-- IEEE1394 interfaces with TI chip are simultaneous operatable up to 4 instances (PCI and PCI-ex can be mixed).
-- IEEE1394 interface with VIA chip can be used only one.
-- USB2.0 capture devices can be used with IEE1394, but same product is usually limited to one.
-- PCI or PCI-ex bus itself has enough bandwidth for up to 4 SD.
Strage
-- HDD must be dedicate for each camera (same number of HDD physical drives are required).
-- one SSD drive (there is no head seek time) can be used for multiple cameras, if the total randum writing speed is enough.
As for your case....
Are you using same number of IEEE1394 interface device for mulple ADBC55s?
IEEE1394 daisy chaing connection cannot be used for video streams.
I am not sure, but there can be a case that the IEEE1394 simultaneous opration is limited up to 2 device depending on the hardware and OS combination. I recommend to mix some USB capture devices..
CPU should be 4core or 2Core HT
4 HDDs should be prepared. One HDD for one camera like below.

. Thank you very much for the wide response and for the advice, then we can run 4 cameras in the same PC, we discard that it is an incompatibility of the program. Then our computers have little RAM and the CPU a little bit right. We would like to know if it is possible to know the drivers for those cameras (902H Watec) and the Decoder, in case they were not installed correctly or if there was an update.
