Hi,all
Unknown meteor stream was detected in 14-17 Oct(JST) by Japanese observers who belong to SonotaCo network.
Please see this URL,
http://sonotaco.jp/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1162
(Sorry, Japanese page)
Last night, I noticed that six multi-station meteors came from a tight radiant at 144° +64°(in Ursa Major) when I analyzed uploaded data on 'sonotaco.jp'.
I had another look at my observation records by Watec Neptune 100 cameras with 6.0mm F0.8 and 12.0mm F0.8 lenses, 12 meteors was came from this radiant.
Most of meteors were bright. 3 meteors were minus magnitude.
This outburst occurred for 3 nights. That means, this outburst may be observed in Europe and U.S.A.
I hope that European and U.S. observers detect this outburst in their observation records and report about them.
Observation in Japan,
The first multi-station meteor appeared at 14 Oct 23:37:37JST = 14 Oct 14:37:37UT.
The last was at 17 Oct 2:12:59JST = 16 Oct 17:12:59UT.
That orbital element is below.(calculated by Mr.SonotaCo)
sol 202.0
ra 145.8
dec 65.1
Vg 53.4km/s
a 5.3
q 1.0
e 0.8
node 201.9
peri 163.2
incl 98.2
Parameters for UFOAnalyzer proposed by Mr. SonotaCo is,
m_Uma 10 10 30 10 15 10 202.0 146.0 65.0 0.0 0.0 53.0 3.0 5.0 Ursa Major 2006
Thank you,
S.Uehara (Nippon Meteor Society, SonotaCo network)

Hi Robert
Thank you for reporting.
I contacted Sirko Molau of IMO.
He searched their video meteor database(1999-2005) and found 402 meters which may belong to this shower.
It seems.. this shower apparently exists for many years but was not known because it can be observed only in a few nights.

Hi SonotaCo,
I forgot to check last year's data! Well done on this exciting discovery!
Robert.

Hi Robert
Thank you for information. It's great!!
If you append the line below to the UFOARadiant.txt(and adjust the column position by space) and restart UFOAnalyzer then you can check possibility of velocity also.
m_Uma 10 10 30 10 15 10 202.0 146.0 65.0 0.0 0.0 53.0 3.0 5.0 Ursa Major 2006
It becomes very clear that this shower exist. Fortunately we can calculate its precise orbit.
Now, Mr Uehara is going to write a thesis about this discovery.
Anyway it is exciting.....

Hi SonotaCo,
I will append the text when I get home and try to get an approximate velocity calculation. It is interesting that many of the meteors are quite bright.
Do you think that the parent body is an Apollo asteroid? Do the calculated orbits correspond to any known Apollo asteroid? Thanks, Robert.

Hi Robert
Wow it penetrate the center of the circle , and difference of V is less than 10% .
It is very certain now. Congratulations .
Quote: | Do you think that the parent body is an Apollo asteroid? Do the calculated orbits correspond to any known Apollo asteroid? | Well I don't know. The inc of this stream is very big, it is almost 100 deg. I think there are very few objects that are known.
Huuumm... very very interesting.

Hi Robert,
The meteor 'M20051016_053647_Ivyhill_WS' which you taken is a typical meteor that belong to this stream.
It is my expectation....,
In one of the characteristics of this meteor stream, it becomes brightly in the first half!
appearance ===> disappearance

Thank you, Uehara
