It's been a while since I visited here, I am still planning to build a monitoring station. My main desktop PC ceased functioning a couple of weeks ago so I'm using my ThinkPad until I can get another system built. Planning to build a quad core system, maybe using AMD's new processor.
Anyway, I've been looking at electron multiplying CCD cameras to use in my observing station. Is anyone currently using them? I would be interested to know if it would work well.
I've also been trying to find some line doubling equipment to see if I can process the analog video to get rid of that ugly interlaced look of the video an still images. So far no luck. I wonder if there is some software that could do the job? |

Hi
I am also interested in electron multiplying CCD cameras.
There are some stations that use normal image intensifiers, but I don't know the station that uses solid electron multiplying camera such as Impactron of TI or EM-CCD of Hamamatsu.
May be they are still too expensive.
I have seen their demonstrations several times.
Though they are a bit noisy, but I think they are almost the only way to capture dim and fast objects in color.
About de-interlacing, AviUtl is famous in Japan.
UFOCaptureV2 also has a function of de-interlace stepping. |

I am looking at a Toshiba model, IK-1000. I received an email from one distributer quoting a price of $5,500 which is pretty steep, my Meade 14" LX200GPS telescope cost less than that. I don't know which EMCCD camera is the best for a reasonable price.
I'll check around for AVIUtil to see what it can do. Thanks. |

I just found a program while doing some searching for de-interlacing software. I found a reference to it here:
http://www.100fps.com/
The software is located here:
http://www.hhi.fraunhofer.de/german/bs/HiCon/example.htm
I don't have any interlaced avi video to try it on, but I hope it will work. |
