Hello SonotaCo!

We have installed a camera on San Andrés island of Colombia. The internet there is very slow. We use TeamViewer software to connect to the remote computer. In this case, when streaming the video live, the response of the system becomes very slow, the actions can take minutes before the computer reacts. It seems to be because it tries to transfer or process too many frames. For this reason it could be interesting to have an option in UFOCapture which displays images from the video stream at some speed (e.g. 1 image per 10 seconds). Do you think it is possible?

best regards,
Oscar

Interesting! It is what I cannot think up.
I think it may be possible. But it seems too strange to add an option for general users Sad .
Is there any other method to solve the problem?

Hi SonotaCo,

it could be a good idea to make a simple mode and an advanced mode?
In the simple mode one could choose typical profiles like meteors, security, day or night or just very few controls like the free UFOCapture version. Every option then has space for its description (or on mouseover).

Alternatively one could separate the settings which do not need to be adjusted during a capturing session ("Setup") from the operational detection settings ("Detection"). The Setup tab then has also the space available where normally the video appears.
For example, of the Input tab, the items including Video input, Size, Codec, Frame Shift and Super Impose (excl. preview options) can be considered "Setup". The Operation and Profile tabs can also be considered suitable for "Setup", perhaps except Detect Schedule. Both the Setup and Detection screens could fold in/out advanced options.
Just some ideas!

Oscar
