Hi! All!
Topic: Botton Field First!
I enclose below a response from Sonotaco inserted in the Forum IMTN (Italian Meteor Network) in January 2013:
"It is" Bottom Field First "Profile of UFOCaptureV2 sheet.
ON means the video capture device make a frame That image contains the first (earlier) as a field of interlaced frame That field contains bottom line.
....
Simply,
Check ON at UFOCaptureV2 Profile sheet if you are using IEEE1394 capture device with builtin Window's device drivers.
Check OFF for other analog capture devices or progressive grabber.
UFOAnalyzerV2 try to check it automatically when "bbf check" on the UTY sheet is ON, but it can not be correct.
If you are confident in your BBF setting, then check off the "bbf check" on the UTY sheet. "
If, therefore, in most part of the cases ( analog camera ) should be left in "OFF", then I ask: So "bbf" should not be set nor in UA Profile nor in UA uty?
Opinions, advices?
Regards!

It is not decided bv camera, but it is decided by capturing(A/D) device.
To say correctly, as for most of the USB capturing device (NTSC/PAL), it should be left in "OFF".

May be you are right.
1) The field order should be set correctly on capturing (Profile sheet of UFOCaptureV2 or Input sheet of UFOCaptureHD2).
2) 1) is automatically passed to UFOAnalyzerV2(UA2) through xml, and you can see and change it by the setting of "bbf" on the Profile/Analyze sheet of UA2.
3) UA2 has automated check function of the field order. if "bbf check" setting on Uty sheet is ON, UA2 checks the setting matches the movement of the object in the video.
And issue warning during the analysis if the setting seems not correct. It is just a check, so you can check OFF "bbf check" setting on Uty sheet if it is not needed.
As far as I know, all IEEE1394 capturing device uses Bottom Field First interlace, and all USB NTSC/PAL capturing device uses Top Field First interlace.
But yet there are so many capture device in the world, so there can be exceptions. |
