Sony has revealed a new Sony alpha7S (S = sensitivity) a high sensitive full frame still/video "mini" DSLR kamera able to 4K (3840x2160 px or ~8.1 Mpx/frame) video output. It can shoot with ISO 409600, but native sensitivity is said to be ISO 102400 with colors! That is about the same native sensitivity of Watec b/w CCTV-cameras has.

Although I do not know all details of that camera, but it could be a really (expensive but...) ideal for high resolution near all-sky fireball stations. But where to get real-time motion capture software to work with 4K? Is UFOCapture 4K coming soon?

Hi Thanks for info
The video is impressive.

I agree. It seems 4K ISO 51200 F2.8 will be standard in near future.
I will stop buying panasonic DMC-GH4 and wait for further information.
The resolution limitation of UFOCaptureHD2 was updated to 3820x2400 (V3.50) for 4K test. But it was not tested ever (I guess CPU load for mask functions can be too high for current processors ) .
There is a memo in my note for UFOCapture4K that reduce necessary CPU power down to 1/4 or 1/9.. I was thinking it will be required around 2017, but it seems I should do it a bit earlier..... Please wait for future announce

May be sufficient to set the resolution full-HD or less to overcome the problem of PC hardware?
Best Regards

Currently, full HD 1920x1080 up to 60p is already working fine.
As for 4K un-compress capture, now it requires 4 cables of SDI interface and big capture equipments.
So may be we should wait a few years.

Great, if a7s will allow to reduce the output video full-hd with the claimed sensitivity, it could be really be tested for meteors and TLE

Sony alpha7s (2014/Jun/20- 248,400Yen) microHDMI(V1.4b 4K, 422 8bit) ISO up to 409600
BMD DeckLink Studio 4K (66938Yen) 6G-SDI or HDMI 1.4b
BMD DeckLink SDI 4K (33458Yen) 6G-SDI
BMD Mini Converter HDMI to SDI 4K (33458Yen)
CPU load for UFOCaptureHD2 3820x2160p30 may be 50% of Corei7 3.1GHz CPU --- May be OK already!!
Strage writing speed may be 800MByte/s for un-compressed / 300MByte/s for Huffyuv
So, as for 30p, 4K will be possible soon by currennt UFOCaptureHD2

My issue with the Point Grey camera was resolved and I am trying UFOCaptureHD2 4.00.
The Detect Level bar is moving a lot and it seems it does not take into account the area mask properly. The lights on the horizon are under the mask but become slow objects when I manually lower the detect level. Scintillation mask is only above the horizon. So the scintillation of the lights below the horizon is not masked. Maybe it is specific only to RGB32 cameras?
Second thing I find is that the captured event files are not logically sorted. It now looks like this and new clips are added at the bottom until reread is pressed.
This screenshot shows both issues:

Oh!
I saw codes about RGB32 for PointGery now.
Threre a line that relates area mask was missing... I cannot imagine why this king of matter happens.
I will fix RGB32 area mask problem soon.

Hi SonotaCo,
Thanks for the new version. One thing I notice with UFOCaptureHD is that the scintillation mask picks up things I cannot see, maybe tiny hot pixels, while the real stars are not well masked. Could this mask calculation also be particular to RGB32 camera images?
There is not a single scintillation mask setting that works satisfactorily. Even with the SMlevel at 255 it still has hundreds of points.
I upload an M bitmap file to http://www.lightningwizard.com/temp/M20140721_045710_+LWM.bmp
You can stretch the green channel to see all the stars.
I still have to try if DarkObjectMask works as expected. Slow objects are tracked correctly, but the square stays at its position when the file is saved and deleted and capture restarted, and then loses the object and detects it again (same as the non-HD version).
Edit: now it becomes day and the increased background brightness made the mask at the previous 255 5 6 setting almost disappear. Then I went to 130 5 5 and it perfectly matches the stars.
I uploaded the image: http://www.lightningwizard.com/temp/M20140721_054224_+LWM.bmp
