Hello,
I recently switched to UFOCaptureHD2 for recording spectra with a TIS DMK33GX249 camera. This camera allows to record 8-bit and 16-bit videos (Format Y800 and Y16). The 8-bit format works fine with UFO capture, but setting the camera to 16-bit crashes UFO capture with auto detection, there is no 16-bit mode to select as far as I can see.
My question: is it possible to record 16-bit videos with UFOCaptureHD2? It would be very useful for meteor spectra, where a higher dynamic range would be very welcome. Actually the camera is only 12-bit, but this is already quite an improvement over 8-bit.
See https://www.theimagingsource.com/products/industrial-cameras/gige-monochrome/dmk33gx249/ for the specs of the camera and the output formats.
Thank you for your answer,
Martin |

Hi,
Yes, I agree 16bit is very important fir science and will be common.
I will challenge for it when a attractive camera appears
or when the software development for 16bit becomes easy on Windows.
As for DMK33GX249, the sensor IMX249LLJ seems doesn't have enough sensitivity for me.
It sensitivity on the data sheet is 825mV(F8 ), while its of IMX290LLR is 1200mV(F8 ).
I am thinking IMX290LLR is the limit.
Situation is,,,
I don't know whether Y16 AVI file became popular or not, it was not usable on Windows.
Y16 support on DirectShow is necessary for my development.
I've reported that installation of Imaging Source Y16bit driver crushes UFOCapture.
I am going to be busy this year for some other subjects.
Sorry, for the time being |
